Meet the Maker

Bazar Bizar

The Belgian interior brand that grew out of a lifelong passion for travelling, creates highly original design pieces made of eco-friendly materials such as water hyacinth, rattan and bamboo. Bazar Bizar brings that beautiful touch of Balinese culture one for one to the four corners of the earth.

The Inspiration

As world travelers, the founding couple had seen many sights, but Indonesia felt like a ‘homecoming’. They fell in love with the country, the Balinese culture, the traditional craftsmanship and the people, not to mention the boho vibes. That’s how they came up with the idea of launching a web-shop for unique furniture and original decorative items, crafted by Balinese housewives. Every item is unique and has its own story to tell.

The Impact

All products are handmade by local artisans in Indonesia using indigenous techniques that have been passed down through generations. They support cottage industry which allows the artisans to work from home and look after their children while providing an income for the family. This has created a flourishing economy, leaving family values and cultural practices intact in the wonderful world of cottage industry.
